When I saw BR grab him and drag him towards the middle of the pitch so the fans could applaud him, I didn’t know how to feel. A part of me was thinking if BR was really sincere in doing this, but another part of me was happy about the gesture. Stewart really deserved to be applauded and appreciated.
It’s a lovely gesture though. Here’s hoping they’ve finally resolved things. :)

On 53 minutes the goal finally came when Downing cut in from his flank and smacked right-footed into the bottom corner from 25 yards. It was the wide man’s second goal - he also has three assists - in Europe so far this term. “Stewart Downing, he scores when he wants,” chanted the Kop.
